Spring Has Sprung!

Let us rejoice...spring weather is here! It's going to be 70+ degrees today and that means it's time to fire up the grill!

If you're looking to feed a lot of people on a budget we have chicken quarters on sale for an amazing price. Toss these in a bag to marinate with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, Soy Vay teriyaki, or even just plain old Italian salad dressing then grill for incredible flavor!

If you're looking to ball hard and want only the finest tasting meat then we have Niman Ranch ribeyes or pork chops also on sale. I keep these simple with just salt and pepper because the meat alone is so flavorful.

Super Salmon Recipe and St. Patty's Reservations

Top o' the mornin' to ya! One of our all-time favorite food holidays is fast approaching. That's right St Patrick's day is right around the corner and this year we decided to do things a little different. Instead of relying on plain ol' Irish luck, and hoping there will be enough corned beef for all, this year we will be taking pre-orders!

Our St Patrick's Day individual dinners are made with top quality, local corned beef from our friends down at Hummel Bro's in New Haven. Each dinner comes with a healthy serving of corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes and carrots.

Pre-Order Your Corned Beef Dinner!

The pre-ordering window is open from now until Monday 3/14. Pickup will be available Wednesday 3/16 & Thursday 3/17. Dinners will be pre-packaged cold for easy reheat at home.

Also, on a little side note. Word on the street is that there may be a shortage on Guinness coming up. Have no worries though! We have plenty of stouts and hundreds of local craft beers to enjoy. Now I'll drink to that!

Mardi Gras and Olympic Gold Winner!

Mardi Gras aka Fat Tuesday aka the the practice of the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before fasting for Lent starts on March 1st.

Another cause for celebration is Lindsey Jacobellis (pictured above) won the snowboard cross Olympic gold medal! Lindsey grew up in Roxbury CT and her mother always cooks our fresh salmon whenever she is back in town visiting :).

Did you know just tried our fresh baked Irish Soda bread for the first time and I was blown away by how delicious it is?

Spread on some Kerrygold butter and you have an incredibly delicious treat!

Coat Drive Results & Random Acts of Kindness

Our coat drive was a huge success! We filled 2 truckloads and collected 733 coats.

The real hero is Joseph, founder of God Provides Ministries. He and his team of volunteers sorted all the coats by type and size and distributed hundreds of them across the Greater Waterbury area to the organizations and individuals below. If you didn't get a chance to donate a coat but would like to support the selfless work GPMI is doing, you can donate here

Here are a handful of places the coats went:

-New Opportunities
-Spring Life Church
-St. Vincent DePaul Shelter
-Women out of Prison
-Homeless Hospitality Center
-Food Pantry via Waterbury Baptist Ministries
-Individuals and families at the GPMI warehouse

Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. What is a random act of kindness you can do before the day ends?

Presidents Day (officially George Washington's birthday) is on Monday and what better way to celebrate than a spoon roast (page 1) and strawberry avocado salsa (page 5)?

Enjoy this quick hit of warm weather and let me know if you need help with anything!

Cheers,

Snow Storm Warning!

Winter Storm!

I love the cupcake image for showing what a "watch" vs "warning" means when it comes to a storm. Basically a "watch" means we have all the ingredients for the real thing but it isn't guaranteed yet.

Whereas a "warning" means, yeah it's happening.

It sounds like we could either get 4 inches or 24 inches of snow plus high winds for Saturday depending on if it tracks more West vs East. We will be very busy as people prepare to hunker down for a couple days. Please plan accordingly!

Groundhog Day Sale

Our furry friend Mr Groundhog sure seems like he's leaning towards 6 more weeks of winter! That's ok, we have you covered with carrot cake, Poland spring bottled water, bone in strip steaks, shrimp, free range eggs, mac n cheese, ice cream, and much more "snow day" items on sale.

Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the snow!

Reward Program Changes

I hope you're having a great week. Today's weather felt toasty warm in comparison to earlier this week but super cold temps are on their way again and potentially another big snow and ice storm for Sunday night into Monday. I'm no meteorologist but I can pretend to be one on the internet.

Reward Program Changes

Starting January 14th you will earn 1% cash back points on EVERYTHING* you buy! Make sure to enter your phone number at checkout so you don't miss out.

Redeem once you hit $5 in value (or continue saving for a larger redemption) and points will now reset quarterly**.

MLK Day

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr Day. I'm sure you've heard the famous "I have a dream" speech but I highly recommend watching it. MLK was an incredible orator and his message is eternally important.

Online Shopping

If you are trying to social distance our online shopping platform will make life easy.

I personally use it weekly even though I'm at the store because it's just so convenient.

If you use a reward account with us you will be able to see all of your in-store transactions once you claim your online account which makes finding your regular items a breeze. Most of us are creatures of habit and buy the same thing every week anyway .

Snow Storm, Citrus, and Reward Program Changes!

Hi folks,

Let's jump right in...

Redeem Your Points

There is 1 week left to redeem your reward points which expire end of day on January 13th!

Until then there is no minimum so you can redeem whether you have $0.01 or $100 worth of points stacked up. Find your point balance on the bottom of your receipt, online, or by asking your cashier.

More about our upcoming Reward program changes below, but first...

Citrus

The next few months are peak season for fresh USA grown citrus fruits! The infographic in the flyer shows the peak times for the major citrus varieties that we carry.

To me there is nothing more delicious and refreshing than a juicy sweet and fresh navel orange.

Reward Program Changes!

In the past we chose a handful of item categories and the point accrual rate was 5% on those items. The downside of this is if you don't like meat, or deli, or produce or whatever the category was, you didn't get rewarded.

Starting January 14th you will earn 1% cash back points on EVERYTHING* you buy! Be sure to enter your phone number at checkout so you don't miss out.

Redeem once you hit $5 in value (or continue saving for a larger redemption) and points reset quarterly**.

That's all for now. Don't forget to check out this week's sale flyer and if you need anything don't hesitate to reach out.

Bonne nuit,

-Rob LaBonne
